Your daily news update on North Korea
Provided by AGPAs stated by reports, the Korea Football Association (Korea Football Association) confirmed that Naegohyang Women’s FC will compete in the Asian Football Confederation (Asian Football Confederation) Women’s Champions League semifinals held in Suwon, located near Seoul.
The team, consisting of 27 players and 12 staff members, is scheduled to arrive at Incheon International Airport via Beijing before traveling to Suwon for the match on May 20 against Suwon FC Women. The final is scheduled for May 23 at the same venue.
According to general accounts, the matchup follows previous competitive encounters between the two sides, including a group-stage meeting in which the North Korean club secured a 3–0 victory.
Reports also note that while sporting exchanges between the two countries have occasionally taken place, such visits remain uncommon due to long-standing political tensions on the Korean Peninsula.
As stated by reports, past examples include North Korean participation in regional tournaments hosted in South Korea in earlier years, though attendance has been inconsistent, with some events later seeing withdrawals.
